A Fairfield attorney says he has seen a large increase this year in clients filing lawsuits against business who use robots to detect hazards and monitor inventory.

Mark Arons says some of those robots fail alert people around them, leading to collisions and injuries including broken bones.

While the robots have practical purposes and can improve safety, Arons says customers need to be cautious when they encounter them.

“They see these things as kind of cute and interesting. Sometimes kids even follow them around -- which can be problematic,” he said. “They just have to be extra careful."
